USU Eastern Hosts Annual Disc Golf Tournament in Price City International Days Celebration

Press release

USU Eastern’s Annual Disc Golf Tournament at Price City International Days Celebration had another successful year marked by a significant increase in participation and enthusiasm. Organized by Cameron West, Program Coordinator at USU Eastern, the event has been steadily growing and this year was no exception.

“This year we chose a flexible start time to accommodate more participants throughout the day,” said Cameron West. “In previous years we have had to limit our numbers due to a fixed start time, but the popularity of the tournament has encouraged us to make it more inclusive.”

The tournament was expanded from 14 to 18 holes, allowing participants to experience seven additional holes beyond the permanent holes on campus. The course was also changed to be shorter and more family-friendly, resulting in a significant increase in family participation. Flexible start times allowed families to enjoy both the parade and the tournament, resulting in smoother play and quicker finishes.

This year’s tournament attracted 75 participants, surpassing the previous limit of 56. Competitors hailed from Michigan, Idaho, Utah and Wyoming, with many hailing from the Wasatch Front and Uintah Basin. An impressive 47% of participants were first-time participants, while 53% had played in previous years.

“We received a lot of positive feedback about the flexible start time,” West noted. “It made the event more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.”

The results of the tournament winners are as follows:
– Forward: Tyler Beagley
– Intermediate: Josiah Trostle
– Start: Aaron Twitchell and Dan Gibson (tied)
– Women Forward: Nicole Harris
– Women’s Start: Taylie West
– Young Men: Brigham Bradford
– Young Girls: Ashley Jenson
– Doubles: Kolby Widmier and Richard von Rintelen

Each participant played one round of 18 holes on the USU East campus.

“We start planning and preparing for International Days in February,” West said. “This year’s success has motivated us to make next year’s event even better.”
