SAN JOSE-Roku has spent the last few years building a deep presence in professional sports, signing deals with the NBA, NFL, and MLB for exclusive access to live games and specialty channels. Now, it’s launching a new FAST channel to bring all that over-the-top, premium sports content into a dedicated, one-click, sit-back-and-relax experience for sports fans.

Roku Sports Channel will launch on August 12 and will feature a wide variety of popular sports programming owned and licensed by Roku. Featured content will include live Major League Baseball games with the MLB Sunday Leadoff, Emmy-nominated talk show “The Rich Eisen Show,” “GMFB: Overtime,” live racing from Formula E, and sports-themed Roku Originals featuring some of the most popular leagues in professional sports, including “NFL Draft: The Pick Is In,” “WWE: Next Gen” and “Fight Inc: Inside the UFC.” The channel will also feature exclusive partner content, including classic boxing matches from Top Rank, combat sports from Swerve Sports, and high-stakes poker entertainment from PokerGO featuring the game’s most popular players.

“Roku Sports Channel is an exciting addition to our expanding sports offering, an always-on, curated channel that guides our viewers through a wide variety of premium sports content available for free on The Roku Channel,” said Joe Franzetta, President of Sports, Roku Media. “We see viewers continuing to enjoy the familiar, sit-back-and-enjoy experience that FAST offers, especially when it comes to sports. Sports is one of our most popular channel genres on The Roku Channel, which makes us excited to make it even easier for viewers to get involved with Roku’s featured programming.”

Roku says it will continue to refresh and expand Roku Sports Channel with new and upcoming specials, including NBA G-League games and the Roku Original WNBA documentary “Renee Montgomery: A Radical Act.” Roku Sports Channel airs on The Roku Channel in the U.S. Streamers can access the channel through The Roku Channel’s Live TV Guide.

The Roku Channel is free to stream, with no subscription or sign-up required. Viewers can watch on their Roku devices or TVs at TheRokuChannel.com and through the Roku app on iOS and Android devices, Amazon Fire TVs, Samsung TVs, Google TVs, and other Android TV devices.
