Roglic’s Vuelta participation in doubt

Following his crash and Tour de France exit, Primoz Roglic will now focus on his next goals, according to the Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe team, although the Vuelta is unlikely to fit into those plans at the moment.

Things went wrong for Roglic on stage 12 of the Tour. Alexey Lutsenko crashed due to an obstacle on the road and Roglic was caught in a huge accident. The Slovenian still finished the stage, but dropped out the next day.

Since then, there has been silence around Roglic until the Vuelta race director hinted last week at the three-time winner’s involvement. The Slovenian could be crowned co-record holder if he wins again, but on the team’s podcast, Ralph Denk (CEO of Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe) remains coy about Roglic’s Vuelta debut.

“Primoz is only doing some training on the exercise bike, so I don’t think it’s clear yet whether he will participate. I know the director wants to see him in the race, but I can’t confirm that yet.”
