Groundbreaking for new water park in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — As of Friday night, a new water park in Sioux City is one step closer to becoming a reality.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held at 3820 Highway 75 North with several city council members in attendance. Siouxland Splash is planned to cover 10 acres.

Lanes will be closed at the Hamilton Boulevard, W. 8th Street intersection

The water park will feature a 15-meter slide tower with multiple slides, as well as a large children’s play structure with splash elements, officials said.

“We’re going to put a lazy river through the area,” said Joe Zehring of Frontline Development Company.

Siouxland Splash is scheduled to open on Memorial Day weekend next year.
