Dwayne Johnson and Disney’s Monster Jam Motorsports Project Announced

Dwayne Johnson announced a new “live-action experience” set in the world of motorsports at D23 called “Monster Jam.”

“We had an opportunity here to create something that was immersive and cool and fun and also a live-action experience for our families all around the world from the perspective of these incredible, iconic monster trucks and their very eccentric and crazy drivers,” Johnson said during Friday night’s panel. “Ladies and gentlemen, ‘Monster Jam’ is going to be one hell of a ride.”

Details about the project are limited; very little information is given on the scope of the project, whether it will be a film or a series, how it will be released, etc.

Johnson talked about his love of big trucks when introducing the project.

“I’m so excited to give you this news,” he said. “As you know, I’m a pickup guy. I only drive that vehicle. I drove my pickup here. In the back. You know that, and I love motorsports, I love monster trucks.”

Ahead of the announcement, Johnson took to the stage with some dance moves to promote the “Moana 2” trailer. In addition to returning to voice Maui in “Moana 2,” Johnson will also be producing a live-action remake of the original “Moana,” in which he will also play Maui.

Johnson has had a decades-long relationship with Disney, starting with starring roles in the 2007 comedy “The Game Plan,” 2009’s “Race to Witch Mountain” and 2021’s “Jungle Cruise.”
