ALPENA — Artwork by Erwin P. Lewandowski of Alpena has been selected for exhibition by the International Realism Association and the Colored Pencil Society of the United Kingdom.

His first work, “Cascading Water XXVII,” will be featured in the International Guild of Realism Autumn Salon Online Exhibition, which will run from September 20 to December 15.

This special event will showcase artworks from over 20 countries. The variety of mediums on display include oil, acrylic, watercolour, coloured pencil, gouache, pastel, charcoal, scratchboard and egg tempera.

“It’s always an honor to know that my colored pencil drawing will be part of this talented group exhibition,” Lewandowski said. “What makes this extra special for me is that the original drawing was created under contract for an international art magazine article from the United Kingdom (in 2023). Artwork often has a short lifespan for recognition, and to see this work come to life with an expanded scope a year later is priceless.”

His second piece, “Oceanside V,” will be featured in the UK Coloured Pencil Society Open Exhibition, which begins on August 1. It is the fifth drawing in a new series of artworks depicting coastline environments.

“I am delighted with the reception this new collection of drawings has received to date,” Lewandowski said. “Creating highly detailed waterscape scenes is always a challenge, and yet when the artwork is well received by media outlets, consumers and gallery representatives, the effort takes on a special meaning for me.”

The artist and his wife, Mary, live on the shores of Lake Huron in Alpena.
