Charlie Woods’ score today: Full results from Tiger’s son’s Round 2 at the 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur Golf Championship

While Tiger Woods has struggled in the Open Championship and has fallen far short of the qualifying line, questions are being asked about his future, his son Charlie Woods has looked to take a step forward in his young career this week.

Woods took the field at the U.S. Junior Amateur Golf Championship in Michigan, making his debut in the event, one of 264 players in the field for the six-day tournament, which began with stroke play and allowed only 64 players at that point.

The U.S. Junior Amateur has featured several notable winners in recent history, including Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth and Will Zalatoris. Woods hopes to prove he is among some of the best young golfers in the world as his career begins to take shape.

Here are Woods’ results from his second round at the U.S. Junior Amateur Golf Championship.

Woods struggled on his first day on the course, falling apart after a clean first three holes. He made double bogeys on holes 4, 9, 11, 14 and 17 and finished 12-over par, putting him significantly behind heading into the second and final day of stroke play.

Only 19 players were under par at the halfway point of the U.S. Junior Amateur, so it wasn’t an easy day for anyone at Oakland Hills Country Club, but the struggles left him near the bottom of the group rather than the top 64; only 64 players will advance to the tournament portion of the event after Tuesday.

When his tour concluded, Woods was ranked 189th out of 201 players who batted.

Woods escaped a worse ending by making two birdies on holes five and twelve, but he was no doubt pleased with his performance in one of the biggest events of his young career.

How old is Charlie Woods?

Woods is 15 years old. He will turn 16 in February 2025.

The U.S. Junior Amateur features the best golfers under the age of 19, so Woods is still at the much younger end of the group. He could continue competing until 2027, when he would still be just 18. There are also younger players in this year’s group, including two 13-year-olds.

Given his father’s expertise, it’s no surprise that Woods played competitive golf from a young age. The younger Woods competed in the PNC Championship with his father when he was just 11 years old and helped his high school team win the state championship in November.

Woods failed to qualify for the U.S. Open in the spring, but earned a spot in a PGA Tour qualifying tournament earlier in the year and has begun making strides toward major events. Given that he doesn’t turn 16 until next year, there seems to be plenty of time for Woods to nail his game.
