30-12 win-loss record on the WTA Tour this season

Ranked seventh in women’s singles, 21-year-old Zheng has a 30-12-loss record on the WTA Tour this season.

She won her first title of the season (Palermo Ladies Open) in July.

Notably, she reached her first Grand Slam final at the 2024 Australian Open in March. She was defeated by Aryna Sabalenka.

His record at Roland Garros

Zheng came into the Olympics with a 6-3 win-loss record at Roland Garros. In her three seasons at the French Open, she reached the 4th round, 2nd round, and 3rd round respectively. And now, she has won six consecutive matches at Roland Garros to win the gold medal.

Zheng’s journey to Paris 2024

Zheng began her Paris 2024 campaign with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Sara Errani from Italy. Zheng’s next opponent was Arantxa Rus from the Netherlands, who won 6-2, 6-4.

Zheng had to beat USA’s Emma Navarro 6-7, 7-6, 6-1.

In the quarterfinals, she defeated retired Angelique Kerber 6-7, 6-4, 7-6.

In the semifinals, Zheng defeated Swiatek 6-2, 7-5.

Vekic’s first Olympic medal

Vekic won her first Olympic medal. In fact, she became the first Croatian woman to ever reach the medal stage at the Olympics.

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Vekic lost to Elena Rybakina in the third round.
