Detroit Tigers Outfielder Goes Viral With Insane Game-Saving Catch On Wednesday

Detroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows saved the game with one of the best catches of the MLB season on Wednesday night.

With Detroit leading 3–2 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh hit a home run that would have given Seattle the lead if not for Meadows’ incredible catch in center field.

You can watch the game with commentary from MLB.com’s Daniel Kramer here:

Cal Raleigh was completely denied a two-run, lead-taking home run — and could have hit home runs from both ends of the field in another game.

A remarkable catch by Parker Meadows. And it stops the Mariners’ rally in the 8th inning.

That play saved the day for Detroit, however, as they scored a run in the top of the ninth to win the game 6-2.

The win doesn’t mean much to Detroit, which sits in fourth place in the American League Central, but it was a crushing loss to Seattle, which is currently 59-56 and 0.5 games back in the American League West. The Tigers took the first two games of the series from the Mariners and will look to sweep on Thursday night.

Maybe Meadows’ catch was revenge for the crazy catch Ken Griffey Jr. made against the Tigers in the 1990s?

In addition to his great play in the outfield, Meadows had two hits in the inning. His big night came after a night in which he hit a home run.

The Tigers and Mariners will face off once again on Thursday night.
