Evansville Pate Post 265 Baseball heads to regionals

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – We have a local American Legion team aiming to win a regional championship.

Evansville Pate, ranked 265th, won the Indiana state Legion tournament last weekend and now prepares for open play in the Great Lakes region tomorrow. Pate’s roster is comprised of players from a variety of city schools, including North, Central, Memorial and Castle. The team says it’s excited to see how long it can continue this run.

“We all played against each other so it was pretty tough to come together, we were all rivals but we had to come together in the end,” said Pitcher and Outfielder Clark Gries.

“They all have their own personalities and they do a great job, when we need to step up, they step up on their own. They know when that time is. It’s a big deal to get this far and hopefully we can go a little bit further,” said Head Coach Robbie Frank.

In their first game, Evansville Pate will face Owensboro Post 9. Owensboro won the Kentucky state legion championship last week.
