Joginder Sharma meets MS Dhoni after 12 years, shares heartwarming picture

Joginder Sharma, the hero of the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup final, met MS Dhoni after 12 years on Friday, August 2. Joginder, who is the DSP of the Haryana police, shared pictures with the former India captain.

Joginder bowled the last over in the final against Pakistan, defending 12 runs despite Misbah-ul-Haq hitting him for a six off the first delivery.

The Blue Men won the match by five runs to win the inaugural edition of the global tournament. It was Dhoni’s first major championship victory as India’s captain. He also led the sub-continental nation to victory in the 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy.

“It was nice meeting @mahi7781 after a very long time. The fun of meeting you after almost 12 years was different today,” Joginder Sharma wrote.

Joginder has played four T20Is and the same number of ODIs for India. He was also part of the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. Sharma represented Haryana in 77 first-class matches and 80 List-A matches. He took 297 and 115 wickets respectively.

Having accumulated 2,804 runs in first-class cricket, including five hundreds, the all-rounder announced his retirement in February 2023.

MS Dhoni bid farewell to international cricket in 2020 but is active in the Indian Premier League. The 43-year-old will take a decision on his IPL career after considering the retention rules.
