NASCAR News: Juan Pablo Montoya to Return to Historic Races at Legendary Track – Confirmed

Motorsports legend Juan Pablo Montoya is set to make a historic return to NASCAR next month at Watkins Glen International, his first NASCAR race since 2014. Montoya will drive the No. 50 Toyota for the 23XI Racing team, co-owned by NBA icon Michael Jordan and NASCAR legend Denny Hamlin.

In addition to his last NASCAR Cup Series appearance at the 2014 Brickyard 400, Montoya has also competed and been successful in a variety of other motorsport disciplines, including Formula One, CART, IndyCar, and IMSA. His notable achievements include winning the CART championship in 1999, securing the IMSA championship in 2019, and winning the prestigious Rolex 24 at Daytona three times. A two-time Indianapolis 500 winner, Montoya’s racing credentials are undeniable.

Montoya has a remarkable track record at Watkins Glen, having raced 12 times in four different race series. His NASCAR successes at the famed track are particularly notable, including his victory in the 2010 Cup race.

The Colombian driver’s return to NASCAR was facilitated by a collaboration between 23XI Racing and Mobil 1, marking the third start this season for the No. 50 car previously driven by Kamui Kobayashi and Corey Heim. Reflecting on his return, Montoya shared his anticipation and special connection to his early career, as reported by Motorsport .
