Aussie cricket icon Tim Paine joins Tasmania JackJumpers as director

Former Australian cricket captain Tim Paine has joined the Tasmania JackJumpers advisory board as the new High Performance Director.

Paine has reportedly maintained an ‘informal relationship’ with the NBL club since its inception in 2021 and has developed a strong bond with head coach Scott Roth.

He said he is now excited to take on a more formal role on the board.

“Like all Tasmanians, I have followed JackJumpers with great interest since their first season and have thoroughly enjoyed my interactions with Scott and his coaching staff,” Paine said.

“I am excited to now be asked to take on a more formal role as Director of High Performance. I am sharing my experiences while also learning more about the JackJumpers program.”

Board chairman Steve Old welcomed Paine to the team, saying he was “a highly respected Tasmanian who has represented his state and country at the highest level”.

“I am excited to welcome his expertise to our Advisory Board, working with our entire basketball department to continue to enhance our program and sustain the success of the JackJumpers,” Old said.

Club owner Larry Kestelman said he was always looking for “dedicated, proud and accomplished” Tasmanians to join the club.

“I am proud of all the members of my volunteer advisory board,” Kestelman said.

“We look forward to Paine’s contributions on how to develop and improve our very successful program on the field.”
