Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) today announced that former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag will serve as the brand ambassador for the inaugural season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL). The announcement was made during a grand launch event held in New Delhi, which was attended by the entire Apex Council of DDCA.

Scheduled to be played from August 17 to September 8, 2024, the DPL aims to be a world-class T20 cricket competition showcasing the best cricket talent from Delhi and beyond. Headed by Shri Bimal Julka, a retired IAS officer, the league will have six franchises, each aiming to highlight emerging players and provide a platform for seasoned professionals to inspire fans.

• Central Delhi Kings
• North Delhi Forwards
• West Delhi Lions
• East Delhi Drivers

A total of six men’s suits were sold for INR 49.65 crore.

DDCA President, Mr. Rohan Jaitley expressed his enthusiasm saying, “We are honoured to have Virender Sehwag as the brand ambassador of DPL. The event also saw the launch of the DPL Trophy and kits of all clubs, marking the beginning of Delhi cricket’s exciting journey.

League Schedule

The inaugural season of the DPL will comprise of 40 matches in total, 33 in the men’s category and 7 in the women’s category, all of which will be played at the Shri Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
