Conor McGregor Provides Recovery Update Ahead of UFC Return

‘Famous’ Conor McGregor took to social media to provide an exciting update on his UFC return

Irish MMA legend Conor McGregor was scheduled to fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303 during International Fight Week. A fight that had been in the works for a long time was cancelled a week before the expected date due to a lot of doubt.

After a three-year injury layoff, it was revealed that McGregor had broken his toe. Following the cancellation, the “Notorious” shared a photo on X showing off his very bruised little toe.

It was a devastating setback for him and his fans, as his return to action had been highly anticipated. McGregor had not fought since UFC 264 in 2021, when he broke his leg at the end of the first round against Dustin Poirier.

Many have speculated when the Irishman would return to competition, if at all. Judging by his latest post on X, it looks like he’s ready to go.

Conor McGregor also wrote, referencing his future rival Michael Chandler:

“Hey, beggar guy. Your foot is completely healed.”

This update will reassure fans that Mac’s comeback is on the cards. Having gone winless since knocking out Donald Cerrone in 2021, ‘The Notorious’ will be looking to get back to his winning ways.

In an interview with ESPN, McGregor confirmed that he plans to fight by the end of the year. He said:

“The return was planned for the end of the year,” McGregor said. “Towards the end of this year, closing the show. I mean, I was close to coming back. We had an incident and we had to postpone it, you know, that’s the situation. We’ll just accept it and move on.”

He also confirmed that his opponent is Michael Chandler:

“(The fight with Michael Chandler) has been pushed back to the end of this calendar year,” McGregor explained. “So I’m excited and raring to go.”

All parties involved; McGregor, Chandler, the UFC and the fans will be excited about this news. After such an injury-riddled UFC 303, the company hopes to put an end to the repeated cancellations.

So will the former two-league champions return to their former form? Hopefully we will find out before the year is out.
