Team USA women’s basketball competes; track and field events continue

Good morning! It’s Day 12 of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Here’s what you should be looking out for today.

There are 23 medals on offer today, including five in track and fieldand weightlifting and skateboarding finals also take place.

There’s a handful of track and field finals today. In women’s pole vault, Katie Moon will be hoping to bring home the gold for Team USA, and that final happens at 12:15 pm ET and 6:15 pm local time. Separately, men’s discus is at 2:25 pm ET and 8:25 pm local time; America’s Quincy Hall will be racing in the men’s 400m final at 3:20 pm ET and 9:20 pm local time; and the men’s 3,000m steeplechase is at 3:43 pm ET and 9:43 pm local time. Mixed relay marathon racewalking starts off the day and is already underway.

In non-medal events, the US women’s basketball team will be looking to extend its run to eight consecutive golds, having won the event at every Games since Atlanta 1996. The American team faces Nigeria in its quarterfinal game at 3:30 pm ET and 9:30 pm local time. The winner will play either Serbia or Australiawho played earlier in the day.

Of beach volleyball, America’s last pair standing of Miles Partain and Andy Benesh face Qatar’s Ahmed Tijan and Cherif Younousse in the quarterfinals at 4:00 pm ET and 10:00 pm local time. the US men’s (non-beach) volleyball team takes on Poland in semifinals at 10:00 am ET and 4:00 pm local time. oath women’s golf is already underway, with Nelly Korda hoping to defend her gold medal.

Back to the medals, men’s park skateboarding The finale begins at 11:30 am ET and 5:30 pm local time.
