Amateur Athletes to Help Raise Money at Loretta Lynn’s Lapathon Event

ELLENTON, FL / MORGANTOWN, West Virginia July 23, 2024 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – The SuperMotocross League, in partnership with MX Sports, is excited to announce that the Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship will become an annual fundraiser to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

This year will mark the 43rd running of the amateur national championship, affectionately referred to simply as Loretta Lynn’s, which has become the largest motocross event in the United States and arguably the world. More than 1,400 amateur racers will converge on Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, for a non-stop action-packed week of 36 classes of competition starting on Sunday, July 28. Each competitor will compete in three separate races (motos) throughout the week, culminating on Saturday, August 3, when each division champion will be crowned. In total, 108 combined motos will be covered, totaling more than 36,000 laps, each of which will provide a major opportunity to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“I was able to visit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with the Supercross team in April and was really impressed to see the work they do firsthand,” said Tim Cotter, MX Sports Chief Operating Officer. “I knew right away that we could make an impact through Loretta Lynn’s amateur national championship that our amateur competitors and their families would want to be involved in. At the end of the day, it’s kids helping kids.”

Contestants can sign up to be one starting today Love Moto Stop Cancer St. Jude fundraiser where campaign vehicles will be provided for donors to support the number of laps they will complete during the race Loretta Lynn’s Lapathon to Benefit St. Jude Children. Each athlete who signs up to be a fundraiser will receive a St. Jude sticker to be placed on their official Loretta Lynn license plate to recognize that they are competing for a greater cause – the St. Jude Mission: Finding a Cure. Saving Children.

For the first time, amateur athletes will be able to participate in the Love Moto Stop Cancer campaign and raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, just like their professional heroes.

Monster Energy AMA Supercross has been a primary partner of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for eight years and has raised more than 1,000 donations. 1.5 million dollars through various annual campaigns, Love Moto Stop Cancer text campaign for donations, the annual Supercross-St. Jude online auction and Love Moto Stop Cancer a race dedicated entirely to St. Jude. Last year, new programs were created with Ken Roczen and the Progressive Insurance ECSTAR Suzuki team, giving away a race bike in a national raffle. Additionally, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC donates all proceeds to Love Moto Stop Cancer offer.

MX Sports Pro Racing and the Pro Motocross Championship will join forces with the Monster Energy Supercross Championship and SuperMotocross World Championship Finals in 2025 and beyond. Love Moto Stop Cancer Support the campaign while maximizing fundraising opportunities across all 31 events.
