Bangladesh A Team’s Cricket Tour of Pakistan in Jeopardy as Team’s Departure Delayed Due to Violent Protests

The Bangladesh national football team’s planned visit to Pakistan this month has been put in jeopardy due to widespread protests in Bangladesh, and the team’s trip to Islamabad has been postponed.

The team, which was initially scheduled to arrive in the Pakistani capital early on Wednesday morning, was scheduled to play two four-day matches and three 50-over matches from August 10 to 27.

The ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, which began last week, has cast serious doubts on the tour.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that the departure of the men’s “A” team has been postponed by 48 hours due to unforeseen circumstances. Both boards are in constant communication and working on a revised schedule, with further updates expected soon.

“BCB has confirmed to PCB that the movement of the men’s ‘A’ cricket team to Islamabad has been postponed by 48 hours due to unforeseen circumstances.

“The BCB and PCB have been in regular touch over the last two days and will continue to work together on the revised tour itinerary and further details will be provided in due course,” the PCB said.

Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 at Risk

The unrest threatens not only that series but also the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in Bangladesh in October.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with the BCB, security teams and independent security advisors.

There is speculation that the tournament could be moved to another location if the unrest continues. The ICC has stressed that the safety and well-being of all participants is their primary concern.
