Newark native D’wan Shackleford-Vickroy appointed as head coach of Pitt-Johnstown

Former Newark girls’ basketball star takes next step in coaching journey

D’wan Shackleford-Vickroy was recently appointed head coach at Pitt-Johnstown, an NCAA Division II school. The 1999 Newark graduate will take the reins of his first program, which finished 15-13 last season.

Shackleford-Vickroy most recently served two years as an assistant at Ohio Dominican, and also had successful stints as an assistant coach at Westerville South and as coach and co-director of the Ohio Impact AAU program.

Shackleford-Vickroy led Newark to a Division I regional title in 1999. She played collegiately at Ohio State, helping the Buckeyes win the WNIT championship and qualify for the NCAA tournament.
