US women’s 3×3 team suffers controversial overtime defeat against Spain

The U.S. women’s 3×3 team won’t be competing for the gold medal, and honestly, that’s kind of bad.

I’ll say it again: I didn’t expect the women’s 3×3 team to win gold. They started the tournament slowly and it was pretty clear why they were so bad. But after losing their first three matches, they won five in a row (including a matchup with a bad Rhyne Howard shot) and really changed expectations.

Soon, many fans began to wonder if they could really win the whole thing. Unfortunately, the answer was no, as the U.S. lost to Spain in overtime on Monday. But it didn’t turn out the way many thought it would.

Many basketball fans were outraged by the way the game was officiated, taking to social media to voice what they felt were extreme decisions that affected the outcome of the game.
