Adam Peaty is set to return to the Olympic swimming pool later today after a bout of Covid-19.

The 29-year-old won the silver medal in the men’s 100m breaststroke on Sunday, finishing second to Italy’s Nicolo Martinenghi by just 0.02 seconds, before it was revealed by Team GB that he had been “feeling unwell” ahead of his race.

On Wednesday, Peaty posted a picture online of himself in a public swimming pool, accompanied by the caption: “Back in the water with the French public (2 days of bed rest).”

They go in heat two alongside the United States and Australia.
