Alabama Basketball to Face Wake Forest in Preseason Charity Exhibition

The Alabama men’s basketball team will face Wake Forest in a first-round charity exhibition called “Bama in Boutwell” on Oct. 19 in Birmingham, Alabama, creative agency Knight Eady announced Thursday.

The competition will be held at Boutwell Auditorium and is sponsored by Nike and Hibbett Sports. Here is the waiting list to get tickets.

Alabama is scheduled to host a charity exhibition for the second time this offseason; the Crimson Tide will face Memphis in the Rocket City Classic on Oct. 28 in Huntsville, Alabama.

This is also the second consecutive season that Alabama and Wake Forest have scheduled a benefit exhibition, facing off in support of stroke research at the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Stroke Center on Oct. 29, 2023. The Demon Deacons won that game 88-80.

Alabama and Wake Forest have met six times during the regular season since their first meeting on December 20, 1956. The Demon Deacons own the Crimson Tide’s number and lead the all-time series 5–2. However, the schools have not met in a regular season matchup this century, as their last meeting occurred on March 10, 1999, in the first round of the NIT Tournament.

Alabama’s basketball program was ranked No. 3 in its AP Poll after a 5–12 season that culminated in its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament Final Four in school history.

A strong argument can be made that this is the most anticipated season in Tide Hoops history. Head coach Nate Oats and his staff, along with several returning players including First Team All-SEC point guard Mark Sears, a slew of experienced transfers and a highly touted incoming freshman class, give Alabama realistic expectations of winning two more games than last season’s NCAA Tournament run to capture the school’s first National Championship.

Wake Forest posted a solid 21-14 record last season and made it to the second round of the NIT Tournament before losing to Georgia.
