Former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump named Doonbeg as one of his favourite places to play golf in the world

Trump, a New York native who recently survived a shocking assassination attempt, played alongside the two-time major tournament winner.

Trump, a golf enthusiast, owns 17 courses around the world, including Turnberry in Scotland, which has hosted four Open Championships.

DeChambeau, the 2024 US Open champion, and Trump, who is also the Republican Party candidate in the upcoming US Presidential Election, have vied fiercely for aid.

Each player on the team takes a shot, then they choose the best shot and play it together.

They donated $10,000 for every birdie made over the course of 18 holes in the ‘Break 50’ series, and double that amount for every eagle.

All donations collected will go to the Wounded Warriors Project.

Speaking at the round held at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, the former US President was asked about his favourite place in the world to play golf.

Trump mentioned Turnberry in response to a question from LIV Golf star DeChambeau, before naming the magnificent Irish golf course Trump Doonbeg, describing it as an “extraordinary” track.

“You love Scotland because there’s Turnberry… Turnberry,” he said.

“It’s rated number one in the world – you know – which is very difficult when it’s something I have – to be rated number one in the world.

“Some people don’t like that, you know? – That I’m number one in the world.

“But there’s Doonbeg in Ireland, which is also extraordinary… extraordinary.”

DeChambeau also praised the Irish course after playing there last year ahead of the 2023 Open.

“It’s great, I had a great time there. It was amazing,” he added.

Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Doonbeg, commonly known as Trump Doonbeg, is a luxury golf resort located in County Clare.

The course was originally designed in 2002 by LIV Golf Commissioner Greg Norman.
