‘Everything is on the table’ regarding the future of motorsport

Kevin Magnussen is considering his motorsport future and admits “everything is on the table” when it comes to where he will race next.

Haas confirmed ahead of last month’s Belgian Grand Prix that Esteban Ocon would race alongside Oliver Bearman for the US team in 2025, meaning Magnussen would automatically leave the team.

While Magnussen has expressed his desire to stay in Formula 1, he is also realistic about the challenges ahead.

Three F1 teams – Audi, Alpine and RB – have yet to confirm their squads for next season, but none are identifying Magnussen as a potential contender, leaving the Dane to explore suitable opportunities in other racing categories such as IndyCar and the World Endurance Championship.

“I think everything is on the table in this case,” he said at Spa ahead of F1’s summer break. “So, yes, it is difficult… I will see what is available there and when I get there I will make my decision.

“I’m in Formula 1 now and there are still a few vacant seats for next year, I want to see how they turn out and then see what happens.”

With his departure imminent, Magnussen remains committed to Haas for the remainder of the 2024 season, with 10 races remaining.

The team is having a strong season and currently sits seventh in the F1 Constructors’ Championship.

“I hope we can continue this good trend in the second half of 2024,” said Magnussen.

The Danish driver’s future remains uncertain, but his versatility and experience make him a potential asset for leading teams across a range of motorsport categories.

For now, the technical director is focused on delivering strong results for Haas and will continue to do so before making a decision on his next steps.
