Used Car Night Still a Big Hit for Chattanooga Scouts

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Chattanooga Lookouts is once again teaming up with Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union for Used Car Night on Saturday.
A few lucky fans will win a used car.
The team has easily donated hundreds of vehicles as this used car deal has been going on for 33 years.
In the words of Jim Nantz.
This is a tradition unlike any other.

Nothing beats Lookouts’ Used Car Night.
It has to be one of the longest running organizations among minor league baseball teams.
Said Lookouts General Manager Rich Mozingo: “This is a very difficult promotion to put together. The idea that it’s been going on for over three decades amazes me. We as Chattanooga Lookouts could never go out and knock on doors and get this many cars. We need someone like Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union and our partnership with them to bring this whole team to life.”
Mozingo agrees that traveling through AT&T Field is enjoyable.
Said Mozingo: “I’ve made several offers on cars that people just won and they’ve always been rejected. But there was an old Cadillac with big fins on the back. It was from the last decade. It was really awesome. There’s always one or two great cars that come along.”
Used car night even turned romantic for a local celebrity.
Said Mozingo: “James Howard talks about going to the Stadia. He buys tickets to Used Car Night. He wins a used car. He goes out the next day and sells the used car. He goes straight to the jeweler. The jewelry store. He buys an engagement ring for his soon-to-be fiancee with the money he won from the car he won at Used Car Night. I think that’s one of my favorites.”
Ch-ching!
Lookouts is seeing sold-out interest at its used car night, a rarity for games in August.
Said Mozingo: “We reach over five thousand people every time and this year will be no different. Winning a car is fun. If you win a car, it’s a big deal.”
