ATP Lincoln Challenger quarterfinals complete

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Professional tennis has arrived in Lincoln. The ATP Challenger tour made a stop at the Sid and Hazel Dillion Tennis Complex, which hosts players from around the world.

Sixty players traveled to Lincoln from 30 different countries. Many of them are now trying out for the US Open, which starts in New York later this month. The tournament is now down to eight players, with the semifinals on Saturday and the finals on Sunday.

The winner will be awarded $11,000 in prize money. There are still some tickets available online at https://www.lincolnchallenger.com/

“The points here are important to try to qualify for the main ATP Tour and also the Grand Slam main draw, so a lot of these players will be in the Grand Slam qualifiers,” tournament director Alex Guthrie said. “The matches here, every match matters, every dollar matters, every point matters, so every match here is very critical, not just for this year but for next year.”
