“They had a great meet,” Coach Ann Goodman said. “As a coach, it’s really fun to watch them develop into competitors and learn how to compete. They both work hard in practice and it’s paid off for them this summer.”

Maili Doty finished 18th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1 minute, 44.63 seconds, 1.57 seconds shy of her personal best. Solana Doty finished 23rd in the 200 freestyle (2:50.24), six seconds shy of her personal best. Maili finished 25th in the 200 individual medley (3:33.76) and 17th in the 50 breaststroke (49.12). Solana finished 22nd in the 100 breaststroke in 1:46.49.

The Dalles swim team will hold a Dolphin Dive swim fundraiser at the North Wasco County Aquatic Center in The Dalles on July 25, followed by a dual homestand with Hood River on Aug. 2. The Dalles swimmers will compete in their final summer competition at the Seahorse Invitational in Newport on Aug. 9-11.

The quartet of Hood River swimmers competing in the state meet included William Frost, Olivia Jablonski, Grace Roulette and Columbia High School freshman Haven Stageberg. Competing in the boys’ 13-and-over category, Stageberg swam 28th in the 100 freestyle (1:07.73), finished 28th in the 400 freestyle (5:19.41) and finished 24th in the 200 freestyle (2:28.48).

Roulette finished 21st in the 13-and-up girls’ 100 breaststroke (1:37.35). Jablonski finished 21st in the 11-12 girls’ 200 medley (3:26.19). Frost swam in four boys’ events, finishing in the top 10 three times. Frost finished seventh in the 200 backstroke (2:28.84), eighth in the 400 freestyle (4:37.74) and ninth in the 400 medley (5:17.30). Frost also finished 13th in the 200 medley (2:31.06).
