Secretary election not on agenda
MUMBAI: The 93rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be held in Bengaluru on September 29. BCCI’s outgoing secretary Jay Shah, who is set to take over as the chairman of the International Cricket Councilsent the notice, along with a copy of the agenda (TOI has a copy) for the AGM to the state associations on Thursday morning.
The AGM will coincide with the inauguration of the BCCI’s new state-of-the-art National Cricket Academyor the High Performance Center on the outskirts of Bengaluru, as TOI had reported on Wednesday (September 4).
A significant point of the AGM notice is the absence of the election for a board secretary on the agenda. It was expected that the new secretary will be elected at the BCCI’s AGM following the election of incumbent Jay Shah as the independent chairman of the ICC.
The BCCI will now have to call a Special General Meeting (SGM) to elect the new secretary before Shah is due to take over as the ICC chairman on December 1.
