King Charles Asks England Football Team to Tone Down the Drama

King Charles III sent a witty congratulatory message to the England football team after they advanced to the European Championship final with a last-minute goal on Wednesday night.

England emerged victorious from the jaws of defeat for the third time in the tournament.

The King said in a message to the team and their coaches: “My wife and I, together with our entire family, send you our warmest congratulations on reaching the UEFA European Championship final and our best wishes for the match on Sunday.

“If I could encourage you to secure victory before the need for a last-minute wonder goal or another penalty drama, I am sure the stress on the nation’s collective heart rate and blood pressure would be greatly relieved!

“Good luck, England.” He signed the message “Charles R” for “Charles Rex.”

England beat the Netherlands 2-1 with a goal scored by Ollie Watkins in the last minutes of the match.

Football matches officially last 90 minutes, but instead of stopping the clock during play, referees add so-called “stoppage time” to make up for time lost during play.

England will face Spain in the final on Sunday.
