Owen Hall traded to Detroit Tigers in 2024 MLB Draft with Vanderbilt baseball contract

Owen Hall, who signed with the Vanderbilt baseball team, was selected by the Tigers in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft.

Hall was the Commodores’ top signee and was ranked 62nd in the country by Perfect Game. His fastball reaches 97 mph. He is from Edmond North High School in Edmond, Okla.

Assuming Hall eventually signs, Vanderbilt has eight pitchers remaining in its recruiting class, but none are ranked in the top 200. The top remaining signee is Middle Tennessee Christian School graduate England Bryan, who is ranked No. 202 in the nation.

The Commodores have lost at least one high school player in the draft every year since 2017. They lost three players in 2021, seven in 2022 and four in 2023.

Drafting Hall would deal a blow to a recruiting class that was already below Vanderbilt’s normal standards, ranking 13th in the nation and eighth in the SEC before the draft.
