Five Freshmen Join Women’s Soccer Team for Upcoming Campaign

CLINTON, South Carolina – With the 2024 season closer than ever and the first year of the head coach ahead Matt Smith The Presbyterian College women’s soccer team officially introduced five new players to the roster upon its return to campus.

The following five will begin their freshman year next month and will comprise Coach Smith’s first recruiting class since accepting the position at PC last December.

These five new players join a large recruiting class that also includes four additional athletes who decided to join PC in November (Evyn Johnson, Harlan Lyons, Cassidy OldhamAnd Allie Williams), bringing the total number of new players on Smith’s ’24 roster to nine.

Each rookie hails from a different part of the map, including two outsiders from a European country. Presbyterian officially kicks off its ’24 program (followed by two exhibitions) with a visit to nearby Wofford on Aug. 15.

Smith and newly appointed assistant coaches Course of Klahr and Joshua Pooler will lead the Blue Hose into a new era this fall, adding three freshmen who play primarily on offense and two goalies.


Sydney Lassiter | Next

Hough High School | Cornelius, North Carolina
Lassiter will enter the PC system after being named an All-State and All-Region player for the Hough Huskies in North Carolina. The daughter of Marty and Cheri Lassiter, Lassiter plans to major in Business Administration with the goal of becoming a real estate agent. Sydney chose Presbyterian with the goal of making the Big South.

Ashley McAtee | Goalkeeper

Dundee-Crown High School | Algonquin, Illinois
McAtee joins the goaltending mix at PC after a stellar tenure with the Dundee-Crown Chargers, where she was named All-Conference and All-State runner-up and Super-Y Golden Glove winner. Ashley, who was a team captain while serving her club affiliation with Sockers FC Chicago, was a DCHS valedictorian and an Illinois State Scholar. She is the daughter of Sean McAtee and Kristen Barber and intends to major in Business Administration/Management with the potential to double major in Pre-Law.

Gracie Moulton | Goalkeeper

Lexington High School | Lexington, South Carolina
Moulton, Presby’s second baseman, will reside in Clinton after earning All-Region honors at Lexington High School, about an hour from campus. While playing for the Wildcats, she set a state record in weightlifting and played for the South Carolina United club team. Gracie graduated with honors from LHS and plans to major in Biology when she comes to PC. She is the daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Moulton.

Julija Poplašen | Next

Gabrovica and Komnu | Slovenia
Julija signed with Presbyterian from Slovenia, where she will major in Economics once she is officially integrated into Smith’s system.

Fialisa Soderberg | Midfielder

Stockholm, Sweden
Soederberg, another signee from outside the United States, is headed to the Blue Hose after a stint with Midsommarkransens Gymnasium in the Swedish capital. She decided on Presbyterian because “it feels like the best place to grow as a player and as a person” and because she aims to play for the Big South championship. Fialisa is the daughter of Bjoern and Ann-Sofie Soederberg.
