Artist Thomas Yang’s latest 100Copies bicycle artwork – Wheels of Change – a striking image of a rider on a broken iceberg. A slightly more serious subtext than some of his other recent works in the series. And while it took me a while to realize it at first, Yang explains simply that it’s cyclists on bikes who are putting the cracks back together. A message about how cycling has such great potential to both protect the environment and put society on the path to repairing it in a time of devastating climate change.

Wheels of Change is about bikes changing the world. That’s a message we can get behind.

“Cycling can change the world. By choosing to cycle, we are contributing to the fight against global warming. This poster shows a cyclist cycling against the crack line of an iceberg, sealing it with each pedal stroke. This symbolises how choosing to cycle can help slow the melting of the polar ice caps and represents our ability to make a positive environmental impact through simple, everyday actions.”

Yang created the new poster design by carefully recreating the image of a broken glacier by tearing up pieces of recycled paper. He then used a high-resolution scan to create the simple monochrome outline.
