Carpinteria High Girls Tennis Team Falls 11-7 Against Simi Valley | Sports

The Carpinteria High girls tennis team lost at home to Simi Valley, 11-7, on Wednesday.

“I thought we fought really well today and stayed in the game the whole game,” Warriors coach Charles Bryant said. “We won a lot of tight sets, which shows our composure and our ability to handle pressure. That was a big plus for us today, the girls took their game to the next level in those critical moments.”

Izzy Scott and Aubrey Alcaraz led Carpinteria with two wins each in singles, while Valeria Zamora picked up a team point.

“The experience we gained today (in singles) and the diversity of players we faced will help our girls going forward,” Bryant said. “Our girls seemed to enjoy the strength and challenge that the Simi singles squad presented.”

In doubles, the Warriors’ only points came with two wins by Keyla Manriquez and Charlotte Cooney.

“I give Simi a lot of credit,” Bryant said. “When we started to get some momentum, they were disrupting it with high, deep lobs. They were smart about how and when to use them, and it surprised us a little bit.

“Still, we learned a good lesson and we will learn from this experience.”

Carpinteria (3-1) will face Thacher on Thursday in case the game is postponed due to possible weather.
