India to host Asian Cup in 2025

India will host the T20 Asia Cup in 2025 and Bangladesh has been allotted the hosting rights for the next edition in 2027 in 50-over format. The previous Asia Cup in 2023 was held in Pakistan under the Hybrid Model and the Men in Blue emerged victorious.

India previously hosted the tournament in 1990/91 and won the trophy at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Future editions will consist of 13 games per edition.

The Women’s T20 Asia Cup will be played in 2026, but the host country is yet to be announced. The Men’s U-19 Asia Cup will be held in 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027 respectively.

It will be interesting to see how Pakistan reacts to the development as they are at loggerheads with BCCI over India visiting Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy. The apex body of Indian cricket does not want to send its team to the neighbouring country and will force the ICC to organise the ICC event in a hybrid model.

On the other hand, there are reports that India has refused to play in Pakistan and the PCB will boycott the 2026 T20 World Cup to be held in India.
