The U.S. women’s national team will once again take the field Saturday against four-time gold medalist Japan in the quarterfinals of the women’s soccer tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The American women secured nine points by winning all three of their matches, beating Australia 2-1, Germany 4-1 and Zambia 3-1.

Japan started the tournament with a 2-1 loss to Spain, but made a comeback by beating Brazil 2-1 and Nigeria 3-1, and advanced to a critical match against the U.S. Women’s National Team.

How to Watch USWNT vs. Japan

Japan and the U.S. Women’s National Team have a long history in women’s soccer, most notably facing off in the 2011 Women’s World Cup Final, which ended in a 2-2 draw with Japan winning on penalties.

The U.S. Women’s National Team gained revenge by defeating Japan 2-1 to win the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

The two teams last met in April of this year at the SheBelieves Cup, with Japan taking a 1-0 lead early in the match but the Americans came back to earn a crucial 2-1 victory over their international opponents.
