A Nostalgic Moment For Cricket Fans

India’s famous former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Joginder Sharma recently reunited. The duo had an emotional moment that brought back memories of one of the most memorable events in the history of Indian cricket.

Joginder, who is considered the unsung hero of India’s 2007 T20 World Cup victory, shared a touching photo of himself and Dhoni on his Instagram account.

The fans remembered their thrilling victory over Pakistan in the 2007 T20 World Cup final with this meeting.

“It was nice meeting @mahi7781 after a very long time. The fun of meeting you after almost 12 years was different today,” Joginder wrote.

Joginder was tasked by Dhoni with the task of bowling the last over in that historic encounter against a well-prepared Misbah-ul-Haq. Given the significant risks and intense pressure, many were taken aback by the choice.

Pakistan had one wicket left and needed just 13 runs to win. The match was at stake and the stress was palpable.

Joginder, who is sometimes seen as the underdog, put in a dominant performance at the event.

The already tense atmosphere became even more intense with the over being opened wide.

Joginder, however, soon regained his composure with a dot ball before Misbah hit him for a six off the second delivery of the match, reducing the number of runs required in four balls to six.

Misbah attempted a scoop shot over fine leg in the next delivery, but Sreesanth caught the ball safely. India won their first T20 World Cup by five runs after that dismissal, prompting wild celebrations.

Joginder instantly became an unknown hero with his composure and accurate play even in difficult moments.

“I thought I should throw the ball to someone who really wants to do well in international cricket. Jogi did a really good job,” Dhoni had said after the match.

“This is one of the things I will keep for the rest of my life. I want to congratulate the kids and thank them for their response.

“Nobody expected us to win and the way we played, we deserve a big celebration,” the former India captain added.

Besides the Test title, Dhoni led India to two more ICC titles: the Champions Trophy in 2013 and the ODI World Cup in 2011.
