USA vs Germany live score, updates, highlights of 2024 Olympics women’s basketball warm-up match

Days after joining training camp, the U.S. women’s national team is preparing to play its second and final warm-up match before heading to Paris for the 2024 Olympics.

After losing to Team WNBA in the All-Star Game on Saturday, Team USA returns to action on Tuesday when it faces Germany at the O2 Arena in London. It’s a quick turnaround for the Americans, who are heading to Europe after Saturday night’s game in Phoenix.

Team USA has the talent to figure things out in real time while learning from each other on the fly. Led by reigning MVPs A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart, the group is looking for its eighth consecutive Olympic gold medal.

First half: USA 44, Germany 32

15:47: Led by A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart, Team USA heads into the locker room with a 12-point lead.

Wilson had 10 points and 11 rebounds in 15 minutes of play, while Stewart scored a game-high 13 points after getting to the line six times. Team USA assisted on 14 of 15 field goals.

For Germany, Liberty duo Leonie Fiebich and Nyara Sabally accounted for half the team’s points with eight each. Satou Sabally has yet to find a rhythm but has five points on two of 10 shots.

15:40: With the return of A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart, Team USA extended their lead back to double digits.

Germany trails by 14 points with 2:48 left in the half. Timeout on the field.

15:33: The USA National Team is tested by Germany, who maintained their resilience despite the attacks in the first minutes.

With 4:49 left in the quarter, Team USA has a nine-point lead. Timeout on the court.

After the timeout, Jewell Loyd will attempt to add to her total by getting to the free throw line.

15:29: Four minutes into the second quarter, Team USA has a nine-point lead.

Germany’s Liberty forward Nyara Sabally made a significant performance early in the match, making her presence felt on offensive rebounds and inside.

Jewell Loyd did what she does best, scoring point after point for Team USA.

15:22: Team USA finished the first period with a 13-point lead.

Led by A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart early in the match, the Americans put forth a well-rounded effort on both ends of the court.

15:18: With just over a minute left in the first period, Team USA had some very good ball movement and A’ja Wilson.

The Americans had assists on seven of their eight goals and led by 11 points at the end of the first period.

15:06: Team USA scored first with three-pointers by Diana Taurasi and Breanna Stewart.

After holding serve on the defensive end, Stewart split two free throws to extend her total to four points. An early seven-point lead for the Americans with just over two minutes remaining.

14:10: It’s been a long time coming, but it looks like 2023 WNBA Most Improved Player Satou Sabally will be taking the field for Germany today.

Sabally, who earned All-WNBA First Team honors last season, underwent offseason surgery and will not play in a Dallas Wings game until 2024. The Olympics have long been targeted as a return date.

Tuesday’s U.S. Women’s Basketball Olympics warm-up game against Germany will be played in London and broadcast nationwide on FS1.

When do the Olympics start?

The opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics will be held on July 26. The women’s basketball tournament will begin two days later on July 28 and conclude with medal games on August 11.

Team USA is one of 12 teams that have qualified for the Paris Olympics and will play in Group C with Belgium, Germany and Japan.
