Introducing the 2024 All-Main Line baseball teams – Mainline Media News

The 2024 Main Line high school baseball scene was highlighted by PAISAA champion Malvern Prep, which posted a 34-3 record and outscored its opponents 295-76. Other strong teams included Haverford School (19-10), Episcopal Academy (18-12), Friends’ Central (19-8 overall, undefeated in the Friends’ Schools League), Shipley (15-8), Haverford High (13-8), Episcopal Academy (18-12) and Radnor (15-10, PIAA District 1 5A tournament runner-up).

All-Main Line high school baseball teams are selected by the coaches. Since Main Line Media News covers 19 high schools, the Main Line Media News sports staff limits the number of sports available to first team, second team and honorable mention — but follows the priority of the coaches’ selections.
Below are the 2024 All-Main Line high school baseball teams:

FIRST TEAM

Matt Hamilton, Friends’ Central – Senior pitcher/first baseman, first-team All-Friends Schools League selection, was Phoenix’s MVP, posting a 1.86 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and striking out 59 batters in 42 innings. Davidson had 212 strikeouts and a 0.95 career WHIP in 133 innings at Friends’ Central.

Pablo Spielman-Rodriguez, Friends’ Central – Senior center fielder, first-team All-Friends Schools League selection, .323 batting average, .521 on-base percentage, 1.075 OPS, 29 home runs, 16 STATS and 19 HBP. Will play baseball at Middlebury College.

Jimmy Boyle, Haverford High School – The sophomore right-handed pitcher was named first team All-Central League and second team all-state (Class 6A, Pa. Baseball Coaches Association), recording a 0.96 ERA and . 818 WHIP in 44 innings and striking out 75 batters.

Ryan Cassidy, Haverford High School – Junior outfielder, first team All-Central League, had a .333 batting average and a .508 on-base percentage. Had five doubles, 20 stolen bases and 16 runs scored.

The senior infielder from Haverford School, a first-team Inter-Ac selection and a commit to Fairfield University, was the Fords’ MVP, posting a . 402 batting average, 19 runs scored, 33 hits, 32 runs batted in, 14 extra-base hits, . 514 on-base percentage and . 720 hitting percentage, 19 walks and outstanding defense.

Kevin Reavey, Haverford School – Senior right-handed pitcher, first-team All-Inter-Ac selection, posted a 5-1 record with a 2.13 ERA, striking out 60 batters in 46 innings. Headed to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Van Willner, Lower Merion – Collected senior pitching honors – first team All-Central League, Pitcher of the Year (Barrett All-Star Game) and second team all-state (Pa. Baseball Coaches Association). The ECU commit posted a 6-0 record and a 0.00 ERA in 49 innings, had 55 strikeouts and held opponents to a .158 batting average.

Jonathan Holt, Malvern Prep – The senior third baseman, a first-team All-InterAc selection and Notre Dame commit, had a . 412 batting average, . 546 on-base percentage, 22 hits, 22 RBIs, 31 runs, 23 walks and 11 steals in 11 attempts while providing outstanding defense at the hot corner.

Tague Davis, Malvern Prep – The senior first baseman/left-handed pitcher and Louisville commit was the Inter-Ac Most Valuable Player, posting a .351 batting average, .492 on-base percentage, 33 hits, six home runs, 37 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He was 8-1 in the field and had a 1.40 ERA, striking out 62 batters in 50 innings.

Mason Clark, Malvern Prep – The senior catcher and Boston College commit was an All-Inter-Ac selection, posting a .385 batting average, .515 on-base percentage, 30 hits, 32 RBIs, 15 hits and 12 stolen bases.

Jackson Melconian, Malvern Prep – Sophomore shortstop, first-team All-Inter-Ac selection, had a .354 batting average, .434 on-base percentage, 34 hits, 20 RBIs, 30 runs and 18 stolen bases. Provided outstanding defense as a shortstop.

Austin Havertine, Radnor – The sophomore pitcher was named first team All-Central League, striking out 72 batters in 59 innings, winning six games and pitching one no-hitter and one shutout game against league opponents.

Zach Fein, Radnor – The junior catcher, an All-Central League selection, produced a . 408 batting average, 31 hits and 21 RBIs for the PIAA District 1 5A runner-up Raptors.

Danny Braslow, Shipley – Sophomore shortstop/pitcher, first team All-Friends Schools League, batted .380 with eight extra-base hits, 14 RBIs, 16 runs scored and 14 stolen bases. On the mound, he posted a 2.94 ERA in 29.2 innings and struck out 40 punters.

SECOND TEAM

Conestoga – James Quici, third-year outfielder; Landon Jones, freshman catcher.

Devon Preparatory School – Mike White, senior pitcher; Pat Arnold, senior center fielder.

Episcopal Academy – Owen Peifer, sophomore third baseman; Hunter West, freshman pitcher; Timmy Dennis, sophomore pitcher; Logan Correll, junior pitcher.

Friends’ Central – Shane McGarry, sophomore third baseman/pitcher; James Pendrak, senior pitcher; Caleb Bachman, sophomore catcher/outfielder; Donny Rieck, sophomore catcher/outfielder.

Haverford High School – Nishan Elvanian, third-year varsity baseball player; Will Hoffman, fourth-year pitcher; Will Timar, fourth-year shortstop.

Haverford School – Jaidyn Rivera, sophomore outfielder; Ian White, junior pitcher/designated hitter; Brenner Green, junior outfielder/designated hitter.

Lower Merion – Jack Scholz, senior sophomore baseball player; Brody Slensky, junior third baseman.

Malvern Preparatory School – Andrew Pellicciotta, third-year sophomore baseball player; DJ Peterson, senior pitcher; Will Oschell, third-year pitcher; Jack Ploszay, fourth-year pitcher; Chase Ecker, third-year outfielder; Cole Kirschner, senior designated first baseman/outfielder.

Radnor – Andres Cruz, senior infielder; Ryan McWilliams, junior pitcher; Joe Krasowski, junior infielder.

Shipley – Hudson Novodor, sophomore outfielder/pitcher; Jimmy Amplo, freshman third baseman/designated hitter; Jaden Skop, fourth-year infielder/pitcher.

AWARD OF HONOR

Barrack Hebrew Academy – Edo Aharoni, senior sprinter/pitcher; Sam Mildenberg, sophomore third baseman.

Conestoga – Ty Phillips, senior infielder; James Matzinger, senior outfielder.

Devon Preparatory School – Ryan Samms, third-year pitcher; Joe Ficaturo, fourth-year pitcher.

Friends’ Central – Mike McGarry, senior center fielder; Brendan Aiken, senior shortstop.

Harriton – Charlie Belli, young pitcher.

Haverford High School – Shane Durkan, sophomore outfielder; Cam McCormack, freshman first baseman/outfielder.
