Charlie Woods faces a long hill to climb on the second and final tee time of the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at Oakland Hills Country Club.

Woods, the 15-year-old son of golf legend Tiger Woods, tees off to play the final round of 36-hole stroke-play qualifying on the South Course at 1:48 p.m. Tuesday. Woods finished Day 1 in 242nd place after shooting a 12-over 82 in his first round on the North Course on Wednesday. He is playing in a threesome with Alabama golf commit Chase Kyes, 18, who shot an even-par 70 on Monday, and Baylor golf commit Davis Ovard, 18, who shot a 3-over 73 on Monday.

Woods must climb inside the cut line of the best 64 in two days of stroke play to advance to the tournament fixture, which begins with the championship match on Saturday. Woods will play on the South Course, which has hosted major championships at Oakland Hills for more than 100 years. It was renovated in 2019-21 and is 500 yards longer than the North Course.

Tiger is expected to be a fan for the second straight day after walking through the crowd after his son in the first round on Monday. Parents are not allowed to be carriers for their children during the U.S. Junior Amateur.

On Woods’ first shot of the second round, he drives his driver into the middle of the fairway on the 482-yard par-4 10th hole. On Woods’ second shot, he pulls out his iron and hits the green for a birdie chance. Woods’ shot finishes just left of the hole and taps in for par.

Goal: 12-over.

Woods uses his hybrid for the 431-yard par-4 11th hole, taking the ball left of the fairway bunkers, with Woods about 100 yards uphill to the green. Woods’ second shot uses an iron and lands on the front of the green, about 50 feet from the hole. Woods nearly makes birdie, but his shot rolls off the left edge two feet past the hole, leaving him a tap-in for par.

Goal: 12-over.

Woods takes a driver out for the 570-yard par-5 12th hole and lands it in the right rough. Woods drives his iron into the left rough about 90 yards from the green. Woods’ third shot lands on the green about 25 feet from the hole. Woods leaves his birdie attempt about four feet short, and his putt for par is wide left, leading to a one-putt draw.

Goal: 13-over.

Woods’ first shot on the 183-yard par-3 13th hole is an iron just wide of the hole in the bunker on the back left side of the green. Woods chips it onto the green about six feet past the hole. Woods makes his par putt.

Goal: 13-over.

Woods tees off on the 496-yard par-4 14th hole and makes a five-foot putt to the left rough before play is stopped due to severe weather. Play is stopped for an hour and 45 minutes but continues. Woods’ approach shot lands about 40 yards from the green. Woods’ chip hits the inside of the green and two feet to the back rough. Woods’ next chip lands on the green two feet from the hole. Woods’ short putt goes wide, but Woods taps in for double bogey.

Goal: 15-over.

Woods’ shot on the 398-yard par-4 15th hole goes into the right rough. Woods pulls up an iron for his second shot, the ball hitting the green but bouncing off the left side of the first cut. Woods’ chip shot requires an awkward stance with the hands in front of the ball and rolls about 10 feet away. Woods’ shot comes in a foot short and taps in for bogey.

Goal: 16-over.

Woods takes his 3-wood on the 426-yard par-4 16th hole and keeps the ball low but it flies about 200 yards into the rough on the left side. Woods uses an iron on his second shot and it goes into the greenside bunker on the left side of the green. Woods’ bunker chip rolls five feet past the pin and Woods sinks the par putt.

Goal: 16-over.

Woods pulls out his hybrid on the 236-yard par-3 17th hole, hitting the back rough. Woods chips from the back rough to the green 10 feet from the hole. Woods rolls the hole for a par putt, about three feet away, Woods lips out on the three-foot putt and putts for double bogey.

Goal: over 18 years.

Woods nearly reached the green in two after hitting a shot from the middle of the fairway, but his approach shot rolled into the fairway from the false front. He made two more chips before hitting a putt on the dance floor on his fifth shot that reached the front edge and rolled in, where he two-putted from 15 feet to make 7.

Goal: 21-and-over.

Woods’ first shot on the first hole fell into a bunker on the left side of the fairway. He sent his second shot 10 feet from the sand to the back edge of the green. He missed birdie by a foot and tapped in for par.
