(Washington, DC) – New Prairie’s State Champion boys baseball team was recognized at the convention.

Last month, New Prairie won the school’s first state baseball championship by defeating Brebeuf Jesuit 7-2 in Indianapolis.

On Thursday, 2 minutes from the House of Representatives chamber in Washington, D.C.^And County Congressman Rudy Yakym recognized their accomplishments.

Last year, Yakym did the same thing by honoring the New Prairie girls for winning their first state championship. “And apparently the boys didn’t want to be held back by the girls,” Yakym joked Thursday.

Yakym cited the stellar performances of starting pitcher Tyson Greenwood, who had 43 RBIs, the most in all of Indiana, and “sophomore sensation” Reed Robinson.

Yakym congratulated Coach Mark Schellinger and the entire Cougars for bringing another state championship to Indiana’s 2019-2020 season.^And District.
