Francis Ngannou and Others Expected to Be Added to the Roster

Boxing is back, and with the sport experiencing a resurgence around the world, there’s no better time for the release of the upcoming video game Undisputed.

The roster is growing as we approach the October 11 release date on all platforms. According to sources with direct knowledge, some big names are joining the already strong roster.

I recently wrote about the announcement that Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul would be added to the game. However, more fighters should be announced as downloadable characters either before or after launch.

According to the report, the latest big names to agree to join the Undisputed cast include Francis Ngannou, Jaron “Boots” Ennis, Shakur Stevenson and Zhilei Zhang.

Ngannou, a former UFC heavyweight champion and current PFL fighter, has become one of the most recognizable combat sports athletes in the world, but he has yet to make his mixed martial arts debut with the company.

Ngannou has had two notable boxing fights in the past year: a split-decision loss to Tyson Fury, knocking out the former undisputed champion, and a second-round knockout loss to Joshua in March. While Ngannou’s overall rating is likely to be modest at Undisputed, many fans will want to see the 37-year-old test his immense punching power.

The addition of Ennis, Stevenson, and Zhang will make a much bigger impact among boxing purists. Ennis recently made his debut at 154 pounds with an impressive TKO win over David Avanesyan. Ennis is one of the rising stars of the sport, and his promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing puts him on a bigger platform down the road. He could be a fun fighter to use in the game.

Undisputed recently introduced new AI technology that will push fighters into archetypes, allowing them to fight more realistically.

Ennis should fit the boxer-puncher archetype portrayed by model Jessica McCaskill in the trailer below.

Stevenson is a free agent and we await his decision on his promotion deal. It is possible that Stevenson will remain independent, which would allow him to work closely with the Saudi group that supports Riyadh Season, a move that has been responsible for many of the high-profile fights we have seen over the last 18 months.

Stevenson’s speed and defensive skills could make him a fan favorite in the game. He was announced as a new addition to the roster over a year ago, but we have yet to see any comment from him. Finally, Zhang, the powerful Chinese heavyweight fresh off his TKO win over Deontay Wilder in June, will give fans another potentially formidable option to choose from at heavyweight.

In early access, the heavyweight division has the least viable options when competing against human opponents. Perhaps Zhang will be a favorite among users.

In addition to the new names added to the roster, according to information obtained from sources, many of the important stars who agreed to take part in the game have signed 10-year agreements with Steel City Interactive in order to take part in the foreseeable future of the game.

Stay tuned for more information on the game as we get closer to launch.
