Kristi Noem Thinks Biden’s Dog Should Suffer the Same Fate as His Poor Cricket

Bow-wow.

It looks like poor Cricket isn’t the only dog in Gov. Kristi Noem’s (R-S.D.) crosshairs.

In a heated interview on “Face the Nation” on Sunday, Noem suggested that President Joe Biden’s famously biting German shepherd, Commander, should suffer the same fate as the wire-haired pointer she describes in her forthcoming book, “No Going Back.”

Host Margaret Brennan asked Noem if she was trying to “look tough” with her speech about culling dogs, and noted a threatening reference the South Dakota governor made to Commander at the end of her memoir.

The commander moved out of the White House last fall after repeated incidents with Secret Service agents; in February, internal documents revealed that the dog was involved in at least 24 incidents between October 2022 and July 2023.

“You say that unlike Joe Biden, the first thing you’re going to do when you walk into the White House is make sure Joe Biden’s dog is not on the grounds. ‘Commander, say hello to Cricket.’ Are you doing this to look tough?” Brennan asked. “Do you still think you have a shot at being vice president?”

Noem referred the question to Brennan, saying: “Joe Biden’s dog attacked 24 Secret Service employees. So how many people do you need to attack and seriously injure a dog before you make a decision about it?”

After Brennan reminded the governor that the dog no longer lived in the White House, Noem insisted that “the President must be held accountable for the actions of his German shepherd.”

“Are you saying he should be shot?” Brennan asked.

Noem dodged the question, trying to liken her decision to put her dog to sleep to the difficult decisions she has made to protect her homeland.

“I would say, in terms of Republicans criticizing me, it’s the same Republicans who criticized me during COVID,” he said. “They also criticized me when I made other decisions in South Dakota to protect my state.”

In her article, titled “No Turning Back,” Noem described how she shot her “worthless” retriever, Cricket, and how she “hated” the 14-month-old pup.

He also wrote in the episode, referring to Commander, “A biting dog is dangerous and unpredictable (are you listening, Joe Biden?) — especially if you run a business where people interact with your dogs.”

Elsewhere in her interview with Brennan, Noem refused to refute an anecdote in her upcoming book, No Going Back, to be published May 7, about meeting Kim Jong Un when she was a member of the House Armed Services Committee.

“As soon as this came to my attention, I certainly made some changes and I looked into that passage,” he told Governor Brennan. “I’ve met with many, many world leaders. I’ve traveled the world.”
